Identifying local agencies
There are also local authority departments and
other agencies that may be able to support you in developing your
proposals.
These include play services, planning departments, transport
departments, leisure services, education departments, local schools
and children’s centres, neighbourhood police and community support
teams, and local health services.
Local strategic partnerships may also be interested. These
partnerships join up services at a strategic level across local
areas, including involvement in the planning and coordination of
play. Partnerships can include:
- Children’s services, including schools and early
years
- Health services
- Community safety organisations including the
police
- Built environment planners
Embedding the Play Strategy shows how play cuts across the
responsibilities of many departments within local authorities and
where play fits within local decision-making frameworks and
planning for children. Contact your local council to find out who
is responsible for play.
